Brazil Gem Show moves the economy of Governador Valadares.



The 12th Brazil Gem Show, international fair of precious stones, which will be held at Garfo Clube in Governador Valadares, from June 25 to 28, moves the economy of the city and guarantees full occupation of the hotel chain, in addition to sales increase in the region’s trade market.

According to the president of the Union of Hotels, Restaurants, Bars, Commercial and Residential Condominiums of Governador Valadares, Antônio Mota, a 10% increase in sales at bars and restaurants is expected, in relation to last year. He still expects that the rooms booked for the event at the city’s major hotels will be fully occupied. Buyers coming from 22 different countries will take part in the fair. Antônio Mota states that the city is already prepared to receive foreign tourists. “Governador Valadares is already prepared for this, due to world gliding championships and other international events which have taken place in the city throughout the year”, he says. Antônio Dias reminds that all traders in the fair’s food court are from the region. “Organizers are careful enough to show they give prestige to local companies”, he assures.

The president of the Trade Association of Governador Valadares, Edmilson Soares dos Santos, says that Brazil Gem Show is a reference in the world market of gems and jewelry. “The city of Governador Valadares wins in all sectors, since the fair attracts visitors from several countries. The success of Brazil Gem Show happens because its organizational architecture offers quality and product variety to visitors and exhibitors. The fact it is held here allows visitors to get to know a little more about the beauty of Minas Gerais’, and mainly the beauty of our dearest city”, states the president.

According to Marco Antonio Astolfi, Regional Manager of Fiemg Rio Doce, the fair has an important character for the Rio Doce Division and also for the Western region in general, since it is possible to show visitors all the potential in the gem field, in other similar sectors, as well as the region1s tourist potential. “ The success of Brazil Gem Show is mainly due to the fact that Brazil is one of the major countries which produces precious stones, allowing the presence of great exhibitors with gems of high quality and beauty, granting to the major world buyers in the jewelry sector”, he concludes.
